The international terminal has improved and offers a decent selection of food and shops.

Getting to and from the airport means crawling through some of the worst traffic imaginable.
LAX is a place I endure rather than enjoy. The terminals are scattered and connecting between them often means going outside and dealing with congestion. Once you're inside the international building things are better, but the approach roads nearly made me miss my flight.
