The doorway to Rome, with quirks

Pros

Good Italian coffee and food, plus a direct train that whisks you into central Rome.

Cons

The terminals can feel worn in places and passport control sometimes crawls.

Fiumicino is your gateway to Rome and it delivers a proper espresso before you've even left the building. The express train into the city is the easy, sensible way to travel onward. Parts of the terminal show their age, and I hit a slow stretch at passport control that ate into my morning.
