Beijing's second major airport, Daxing (PKX), opened in 2019 and has since taken over a large share of the traffic that used to go through PEK.

Grand scale, tiring distances

Pros

The soaring terminal is architecturally impressive and the internal train helps you cover ground.

Cons

It's a sprawling place and connections can involve a lot of walking plus a train ride.

Beijing Capital's main terminal is a monument in its own right, with those long sweeping ceilings. The size is a double-edged thing, though, because reaching your gate can be a trek even with the shuttle train. It functions well, but you'll clock plenty of steps getting through it.
